Why have I got black mould? You are not alone every home has this unhealthy fungal visitor lurking somewhere. However, with a little understanding of the causes and the right mould and mildew cleaner in your armoury, you can quickly fight back and drive it out.
The first thing to grasp is that adequate ventilation is central to your mould removal strategy. Even the very best mould and mildew cleaners cannot work alone, just as improved ventilation on its own, won’t fix an embedded mould infestation.
To thrive, mould and mildew need both moisture and a food source. Mould is not a fussy eater so plaster, paint, wood and even accumulations of dust will feed it, but only if there is moisture as well.
Condensation is simply warm moist air (vapour) cooling and turning back to liquid when it hits a cold surface. You see this on your bedroom window on a frosty morning or on the bathroom mirror after a bath or shower. But it also occurs less obviously on cold walls where the droplets are quickly absorbed into paint, plaster, wallpaper etc. Mould spores are airborne all around us and will take advantage of warm, moist conditions to establish and multiply. A certified mould cleaner like our ““Mould Cure”Bio-Wash” will kill the mould and eliminate the release of further spores, but you should also ensure that “through” ventilation is improved as well.
Ventilation improvements might include, ensuring that double glazing trickle vents are open, that brick vents are not obstructed or simply that a window is open when drying clothes. Using a mould & mildew cleaner without improving ventilation is only half the job!
