New Build External Basement Waterproofing:
Belt & Braces Solutions

In the quest to maximise plot value, developers and specifiers are increasingly following the European model and looking below ground for added space. This requires robust and reliable Waterproofing products to keep ground water out and a Belt & Braces approach has become the preferred strategy advocated by both Building Control Officers and Structural Engineers. This involves two complementary systems working together to keep your building Damp Free:

A. Primary Waterproofing e.g. Cementitious Tanking
B. Secondary Waterproofing e.g. Cavity Drain Membrane.

In practical terms the Belt & Braces approach recognises the real world difficulty of achieving perfection on a building site. If you have one system and it has a tiny defect, you may have Water Ingress but if you have a double system, you can have a number of defects on both sides and still be completely dry.
